Homemade Garam Masala

Garam masala can come in powdered or paste forms, but either way, the basic ingredients remain the same. This spice is a powerful antioxidant which supports your digestive system while spicing up your meal and waking up your taste buds.

Garam Masala Powder Basic Ingredients

  • Fennel seeds
  • Bay leaves
  • Peppercorn
  • Cinnamon
  • Mace
  • Cumin
  • Cardamom
  • Coriander
  • Cloves
  • Chili pepper

Method

  1. Dry fry the spices on medium heat on a cast iron skillet.
  2. With a pestle and mortar, or the back of a sharp knife, crush the spices into a fine powder, taking care to break the peppercorns, clove, and other seeds down well.
  3. Run the mixture through a fine grinder.

Be sure to store your mixture in an airtight container.
