Is It Vegan? Product and Ingredient Verdicts

This is the full list of products and ingredients we have checked. Each page opens with a verdict (yes, no, or it depends), names the ingredient that decides it, and shows the month we last reviewed the label.

Most verdicts are for the US version of a product. Recipes change between countries, so where a UK or Irish pack differs we say so on the page.

Three ingredients decide most verdicts in the candy and cereal aisles: gelatin, confectioner's glaze and vitamin D3 made from sheep's wool. Sugar filtered with bone char is the most common grey area. If you want the full list of names to watch for, start with the non-vegan ingredients guide. For soda, beer, wine and energy drinks, see the vegan drinks guide.
