Vegan Options at Dunkin'

THE VERDICTCoffee, bagels and hash browns

Dunkin' is easy for vegan coffee and a carb-heavy breakfast. Oat and almond milk cost nothing extra, and the unsweetened flavor shots plus the Mocha Swirl and Brown Sugar syrup are dairy-free. Plain, Everything, Sesame and Cinnamon Raisin bagels, the hash browns and the avocado toast are vegan.

No US donuts are vegan, most of the Swirl syrups contain milk, and every cold foam is dairy.

Dunkin' runs on coffee, and the coffee side of the menu is very vegan-friendly. Oat and almond milk are free, a handful of syrups are dairy-free, and you can build a decent breakfast from bagels, hash browns and avocado toast. The donuts are the letdown: none of them are vegan in the US. We checked the menu and ingredient guides in October 2026.

Plant milks at Dunkin'

Dunkin' stocks two plant milks in the US:

  • Oat milk (Planet Oat).
  • Almond milk (Vanilla Almond Breeze, so it's slightly sweet).

Since March 2025, Dunkin' doesn't charge extra for either. Coconut milk was dropped as a general milk option at the end of 2023, though it still turns up in some Refresher drinks.

Flavor shots vs swirls

This is the one thing that trips vegans up at Dunkin'. The chain has two kinds of flavoring, and they behave very differently.

Flavor shots are unsweetened and dairy-free. Blueberry, Coconut, Hazelnut, Raspberry, Toasted Almond and Vanilla all pass.

Swirls are sweetened, creamy syrups, and most of them contain condensed milk. Caramel, French Vanilla and White Chocolate are out. The exceptions are the Mocha Swirl, plus the Brown Sugar syrup, which are dairy-free. Both contain sugar, which some strict vegans treat as a grey area.

Seasonal swirls change every few months. Assume a new swirl contains milk until the allergen guide says otherwise.

What to say: "A medium iced latte with oat milk and a hazelnut flavor shot, please." Or for something sweeter: "An oat milk iced latte with Mocha Swirl, no cold foam."

Bagels and breakfast

Breakfast item Status How to order
Plain, Everything, Sesame or Cinnamon Raisin bagel Vegan Toasted, "no cream cheese", with avocado spread.
Avocado toast Vegan As it comes.
English muffin Vegan Plain, or with avocado.
Hash browns Vegan Plain.
Loaded hash browns Not vegan Cheese sauce, and some come with bacon.
Breakfast sandwiches and wraps Not vegan Egg, cheese and meat as standard.
Snackin' Bacon Not vegan Pork.

A toasted Everything bagel with avocado spread and a side of hash browns is the most satisfying vegan breakfast on the menu.

Some locations add cream cheese automatically, so say "no cream cheese" clearly, and check the bag before you leave.

Why aren't Dunkin' donuts vegan?

Dunkin's US donuts contain milk and egg, and many are finished with dairy-based icings or fillings. That applies to the classic glazed ring as well as the filled and frosted ones. Munchkins are made from the same dough.

Dunkin' has sold vegan donuts in a couple of other countries, which shows it can be done. It just hasn't happened in the US. If you want a vegan donut, a local bakery or a vegan donut shop is your best bet.

What happened to the Beyond Sausage sandwich?

Dunkin' started testing a Beyond Sausage breakfast sandwich in 2019 and rolled it out to around 9,000 US locations that November. It was dropped from the national menu in mid-2021, and only a handful of shops kept it for a while after.

It was never vegan as served. The standard sandwich came with egg and cheese on an English muffin, so vegans had to order the patty on its own or with modifications. As of October 2026, there's no plant-based protein on Dunkin's US menu.

Drinks beyond coffee

Dunkin' in Ireland and the UK

Dunkin' isn't a fixture on the Irish or British high street the way it is in the US, and we couldn't find Dunkin' coffee shops trading in Ireland as of October 2026.

What you may see in Ireland is packaged Dunkin' donuts sold through convenience stores such as Spar, Eurospar, Mace, Londis and XL. Flavors have included Boston Kreme, Cocoa Hazelnut, Strawberry Sprinkle and Cheesecake Crumble. These aren't marketed as vegan, so check the label. For coffee with plant milk on an Irish or UK high street, Starbucks and most independent cafés offer oat and soy.

Allergy and cross-contact notes

  • Shared equipment: bagels, sandwiches and donuts are handled in the same space, and toasters and ovens are shared.
  • Milk steaming: plant milks are usually steamed with the same wands as dairy milk.
  • Nuts: almond milk and Toasted Almond flavor contain or relate to tree nuts. Tell staff about allergies.

Alternatives

For a more complete vegan breakfast menu, Starbucks offers more plant milks to choose from. Panera has bagels and a few vegan lunch options. See our vegan fast food guide for the best order at 15 chains.

The bottom line

Dunkin' is one of the easiest chains for vegan coffee. Order oat or almond milk, stick to the unsweetened flavor shots or the Mocha Swirl, and skip the cold foam. For food, an Everything bagel with avocado and a side of hash browns is a solid, cheap breakfast. Just walk past the donut case.
